C3D FAQ's

  • We’re completely new to Trail Life/AHG - How do we get started?
    We’re glad to hear you’re interested in our group! The process is quite simple:

  1. If you haven’t already, email info@c3dtexas.org for new member info or fill out our contact form.

  2. Visit a regular meeting to learn more and ask any additional questions

  3. Complete C3D registration (Sent via email, sign, and return.)

  4. Complete Trail Life and/or AHG registration (Create account via registration link sent by email.)
     

  • When are the meetings? How many are we required to attend?
    Meeting are held each Monday, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM, at BridgeWay Chruch in Copper Canyon, Texas (map). Each 3rd Monday of the month is reserved for a Leader Meeting at the same location. Participation and activity requirements differ among programs. For times where attendance is not possible, each program has options for fulfilling the necessary requirements for badge, patch, and award acheivments.

 

  • How do we get involved? How much is required of both kids and parents? How do we register as a volunteer?
    Each familiy must have a registered adult on-site during the meetings and each registered adult must volunteer in at least one activity during the year or server in a leadership position. Volunteering is easy! Just let a leader or the program coordinator know of your desire and availability to serve.

 

  • How often are special events and is there a calendar?

  1. All Official Trail Life events will be posted through our Trail Life Connect Portal and will be listed on our Calendar page as well.

  2. All Official AHG events will be posted through our official AHG Troop Track portal and will be listed on our Calendar page as well.

  • What do I need to do after I register with the troop?

After you register, you will be contacted by the leader for your child’s patrol. They will provide info on book and uniform, along with info on the next meeting. Though we often have books and uniforms available or if you know what you need, you can visit and make your purchases at the AHG store https://store.americanheritagegirls.org/ and/or the Trail Life store https://www.traillifeusa.com/shop/.

 

  • How much are dues?

New members - $80 + $26 Registration 

Returning members - $54 + $26 Registration
 

  • Is there a discount for multiple children or large families?

C3D has regular fundraisers to keep dues lower than average. However, consideration and financial assistance has been provided when there is a need or in cases of financial hardship. Please see a member of the C3D board to request assistance or learn more.
 

  • Why is the group limited to homeschooling? What is the criteria?
    Simply stated, C3D provides a forum for support and encouragement to the homeschool community through regular meetings and family inclusive activities. Our Statement of Home Education states the criteria as “the child’s education as primarily directed by the parent.” However, per the C3D By-Laws, “Because educational options for homeschool families are varied and increasing, the Board of Directors will make the final determination on whether the educational arrangement of any current or prospective member is consistent with the definition outlined in this statement.” Please see the By-Laws for additional information on exceptions.

 

  • Who is required to attend the 3rd Monday leader meetings?
    The 3rd Monday leader meetings are time to coordinate on meetings and yearly activities. These meetings are for adults serving in leadership positions as well as for the youth leaders in the older child programs.

 

  • How are children chosen to participate in the flag ceremony at each meeting?
    Both Trail Life and American Heritage Girls groups participate in the flag ceremony. Prior to each meeting, the adult or youth leaders in each group will notify those (usually via email) who will take part in the flag ceremony. Often, other children are asked prior to the flag ceremony taking place to see if they would like to take part with the others.

 

  • Where do we get the uniforms?
    Though we often have hand-me-down uniforms available in our 'clothes closet', you may visit and make your purchases at the AHG store https://store.americanheritagegirls.org/ and/or the Trail Life store https://www.traillifeusa.com/shop/. Check with a leader prior to making a purchase to see if extra uniforms are available.
     

  • How are badges/awards earned?
    For American Heritage Girls, some badges will be worked on together as a troop, but girls can also earn badges by working on them outside of troop time. For Trail Life, Woodlands Trail unit earn achievements through participation in meetings and activities. The Trail Life Navigator and Adventurer units earn achievements through completing criteria in the chosen required and elective trail badges.
     

  • How are the ages broken up and what are the names of each level?
    American Heritage Girls has five different levels. Details on each of these can be seen here: https://americanheritagegirls.org/program-levels/.
